Hagerstown Duathlon Series and Youth Events
The Duathlon Series offers 2 events in 2008 designed to start and end your multi-sport season the right way. We will be using the same race site as the Hagerstown Sprint Triathlon.

Policies: There will be no refunds for this race. If you are unable to race you can request to transfer your entry to another event if you notify us in writing by July 26, 2008.
Ages: Youth event age range is 7 to 13. Adult race is 14 and up.
Entry Fee: April 26th Adult entry fee $50.00 prior to March 24, 2008 and $60.00 thereafter April 26th Youth entry fee $25.00 prior to March 24, 2008 and $30.00 thereafter October 18th Adult entry fee $50.00 prior to August 31, 2008 and $60.00 thereafter October 18th Youth entry fee $25.00 prior to August 31, 2008 and $30.00 thereafter No refunds will be given!
Giving: The Hagerstown Duathlon Series races will benefit the Cedar Ridge Children's Home which provides quality residential care for abused, abandoned, neglected, adjudicated and emotionally challenged boys between the ages of 6 and 14. www.cedarridge.org

Directions: The Park is located just off the MD Rt. 70 exit #28. From the East take exit ramp to traffic light. Proceed straight through the light at take the first left into the park. From the West, take ramp to the stop sign. Turn left and proceed to the traffic light. Turn left at the light and take the first left into the park.
Adult Course: We are excited to offer the same great race venue that was used for the Hagerstown Triathlon. The Adult race transition area will be in the parking lot next to the pool. The race will begin with a 2 mile run that will be entirely in the park on the park road and running path. The bike loop will begin and end in the park and will navigate along Downsville Pike, Rt 68, Govern Lane Blvd, Edward Daub Rd, Sterling Rd, and Bower Ave. The final run will be entirely in the park using the path and road (the same 5K as the Triathlon). The elevation of this course is rated easy with only slight grades, no big hills. See course maps for details.
Youth Course: We are excited to offer the same great race venue that was used for the Hagerstown Triathlon. The Youth race transition area will be in the parking lot next to the pool. The race will be entirely in the park and will begin with a .25 mile run that will start on the park road. The bike will be an out and back on the park road (same as the triathlon). The final run will be on the running path (same as the triathlon). The elevation of this course is rated easy with only slight grades, no big hills. See course maps for details.

Start Times: The Youth race will begin promptly at 8:30am and will be a mass start. Adult race will be divided into several waves that will combine racers by age group and will begin in a mass start format. First wave will begin at 9:30am, with each additional wave starting a few minutes apart. Adult start times will be published the week leading to the event.
Awards: Youth awards will be given as racers come across the finish line. The Youth event is non-competitive and is designed for ages 7-13. Adult race awards ceremony will follow the Adult race. The categories for Adult race will include top 3 male/female, top masters male/female, and the following male/female age groups: 14-16, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60+
Race Day: The following race details will be used for both the April and October races. Packet pick up and body marking will begin at 6:30am race day at the pavilion near the transition area. You must sign in and have your body marked prior to racking your bike in transition. The transition area will be open at 6:00am and will close at 8:00am. We will have a mandatory pre-race meeting at 8:00am.
Rules: All racers must have an approved helmet with the chin strap fastened before entering the bike course. Your local bike shop can provide you with assistance to ensure your helmet meets approval. Bikers and runners must obey all traffic rules and race official instructions. Roads will not be closed to vehicular traffic. Volunteers will be placed in key areas to help direct race traffic. For the Adult race no outside assistance is allowed and no one other than racers are permitted in the transition area. For the Youth race parents are allowed to follow their children on the course but are discouraged from entering the transition area. Parents must not block other youth racers.
