Beer Mile Details: This is all about fun and celebrating Antietam Brewery beer! The Antietam Brewery Beer Mile will be 4 laps, consuming a 12 ounce beer before each lap, capped at 30 participants. The race begins with the sound of the starting horn and participants will drink their first beer prior to leaving the beer drinking zone. Once the beer is consumed they will run a lap counter-clockwise around the building and return to the beer drinking zone. They will repeat until 4 beers and 4 laps are complete and on the final lap they will finish through the finish arch. The course is flat, paved and fast! Anyone who vomits at any point will have a 5-minute penalty added on to their time.
The official beer that will be consumed during the Beer Mile will be the Antietam Brewery’s General’s Golden Ale, in a can. The beer will be served cold! This is a smooth and delicious beer that will go down easy during the race! It has 5.4% alcohol, meeting the 5% minimum requirement for the Beer Mile.
Beer Mile Waves: Due to popular demand, we are opening up 3 waves for the Beer Mile as we are only going to have room for 30 participants per wave. Our capacity will be 90 participants total, 3 waves of 30 participants max. We created a question for registration that allows you to register for the wave of your choice. If you already registered before the waves were set up on March 30 you can use your race confirmation email to go back in and register for a wave. For slower participants, we ask that you choose wave 1 or 2 so if you do not finish within the 20 minutes allowed for each wave you can remain on course while the new wave starts. There is no time limit for this event but we must have all participants off course by 12:30pm. Please see the updated schedule for details.
Special Offer: For those doing the Beer Mile, Antietam Brewery is offering $2.00 off a 6 pack of General’s Golden Ale. Just present your race confirmation (digital or printed) to get the discount. Go visit Antietam Brewery and pick up a 6 pack to begin your training now for the Beer Mile!
Beer Mile History: The “Beer Mile” event has been gaining in popularity over the past few years. However, only a brave few have given it a try. Some top runners have set some incredible records (Men’s Record is 4:33.6 set by Corey Bellemore in 2017 from Canada, Women’s Record is 6:08.0 set by Erin O’Mara from USA) and you can find events all over the country. Most beer mile events are held on a track but some have taken to the streets. The Antietam Brewery Beer Mile will be on black top navigating around the building where the brewery is located. Spectators will enjoy watching the 30 individuals make an attempt to successfully complete the 4 laps and 4 beers. We have provided some links below to help you get educated on this type of event.
