Beer Mile Details: This is all about fun and celebrating Antietam Brewery beer! The Antietam Brewery Beer Mile will be 4 laps, consuming a 12 ounce beer before each lap, capped at 40 participants per wave (3 waves total). The race begins with the sound of the starting horn and participants will drink their first beer prior to leaving the beer drinking zone. Once the beer is consumed they will run a lap counter-clockwise around the building and return to the beer drinking zone. They will repeat until 4 beers and 4 laps are complete and on the final lap they will finish through the finish arch. The course is flat, paved and fast! Anyone who vomits at any point will have a 5-minute penalty added on to their time.
The official beer that will be consumed during the Beer Mile will be Paddy Wagon, based on popular vote. The beer will be served in a can and served chilled! We will control the temperature to be colder than room temp but not too cold to chug. Paddy Wagon is a smooth and delicious beer that will go down easy during the race! It’s a traditional Belgian style pale ale brewed with candy sugar and dry hopped with Hallertau Blanc. It has 6% alcohol which meets the 5% alcohol by volume minimum requirement for the Beer Mile.
THE RESULTS ARE IN! After our “Try 3 and Vote” Poll, the winning beer for the 2019 Beer Mile is Paddy Wagon.
Paddy Wagon is now the official beer for Racine MultiSports’ 2019 Antietam Brewery Beer Mile. It will be canned with a custom 2019 Antietam Brewery Beer Mile label which we are busy designing now. Once canned we will announce it and you may then come in and purchase 6-packs in the keepsake cans and practice for race day using the official beer! (Show your race registration confirmation email and receive $2 off of the six-packs.)

Beer Mile Waves: Due to popular demand, we are opening up 3 waves for the Beer Mile as we are only going to have room for 40 participants per wave. Our capacity will be 120 participants total, 3 waves of 40 participants max. We created a question for registration that allows you to register for the wave of your choice. For slower participants, we ask that you choose wave 1 or 2 so if you do not finish within the 20 minutes allowed for each wave you can remain on course while the new wave starts. There is no time limit for this event but we must have all participants off course by 12:30pm. Please see the schedule for details.
Beer Mile History: The “Beer Mile” event has been gaining in popularity over the past few years. However, only a brave few have given it a try. Some top runners have set some incredible records (Men’s Record is 4:33.6 set by Corey Bellemore in 2017 from Canada, Women’s Record is 6:08.0 set by Erin O’Mara from USA) and you can find events all over the country. Most beer mile events are held on a track but some have taken to the streets. The Antietam Brewery Beer Mile will be on black top navigating around the building where the brewery is located. Spectators will enjoy watching the 30 individuals make an attempt to successfully complete the 4 laps and 4 beers. We have provided some links below to help you get educated on this type of event.
