Fort Ritchie Duathlon – Course
Run Course #1: The first 5K run will be a loop and will navigate through Fort Ritchie property. Both the Sprint and Olympic races have the same course. Being on private property, vehicular traffic will be minimal if at all. The course is rolling hills.
Bike Course: The bike course leaves Fort Ritchie and navigates through hills and valley on wide shoulders and low traffic country roads. The first section of the course starts with a steep uphill climb that leads to a fast and long down hill section. The second part of the course is rolling through the valley. The final section is a long gradual up hill. Sprint course is the same course minus the middle valley section. BIKE COURSE IS NOT CLOSED TO VEHICLE TRAFFIC. You must use caution and make your own judgement call when turning at each intersection. Volunteers are at the turns to ensure you know where to turn but will not be controlling traffic.
Run Course #2: The Sprint course is the same 5K as the first leg. The Olympic course is two loops of the same 5K course.
Transition Area: There is only one transition area on pavement for this event.
