Welcome to the official site of the 13th Annual Hagerstown Duathlon #1, presented by Racine MultiSports
Description: This “sprint” distance Duathlon, designed for all levels, will start and end at Halfway Park in Hagerstown, MD…..just 25 minutes from Frederick, MD and 90 minutes from Baltimore and DC. This is a great course for the beginner and for the experienced duathlete who wants to go fast! We will host the Hagerstown Youth Duathlon #1 and Hagerstown 5K Run #1 during this weekend. USAT Mideast Duathlon Regional Championship: We are very excited to be chosen by USA Triathlon as the Mideast Duathlon Regional Championship at the Hagerstown Duathlon #1 in Hagerstown, Maryland on April 11, 2020. There is no qualification or extra money needed to be a part of this championship. ALL who are registered for the HAGERSTOWN DUATHLON #1 are automatically entered in the USAT Mideast Duathlon Regional Championship in 2020! For details visit Here.

Run Course #1: The first run will be a 1.9 mile loop held entirely in the park on the park road and paved path. The course is not hilly but has some slight elevation.
Bike Course: The bike course is a loop on public roads. The course is slightly rolling with no major climbs and has wide shoulders for most of the loop. BIKE COURSE IS NOT CLOSED TO VEHICLE TRAFFIC. You must use caution and make your own judgement call when turning at each intersection. Volunteers are at the turns to ensure you know where to turn but will not be controlling traffic.
Run Course #2: The second run is entirely in the park using the path and park road. We are redesigning the course this year to do an out and back. There is some elevation but is not hilly.
Transition Area: There is only one transition area on pavement for this event.
Start: We will use a mass start for this event.
Timing: This event will be professionally chip timed! We will be providing race day results at our results kiosk immediately after you finish your race. We will also provide a web link to results that you can share with your family and friends so they can follow your race on their web devices.
Course Support: We will have water and sport drink at the water stations on the run as well as at the finish line. You will have 3 opportunities to hydrate on the run course. The water stations are located approximately at miles .9, 1.5, 2.2. There are no water or food stations on the bike course. We will also have food items and beverages at the finish line area for volunteers and participants only.
Athlete Responsibility: USAT rules state that it is the athletes responsibility to know the course. Please study the map and drive, or even better practice, the course.
This race is sanctioned by USAT.
Please note that the entry fees below do not include any USAT fees. During registration you will be required to enter your member number or buy a one day license. During packet pick up members will be required to show a membership card and a valid photo ID. One day license purchasers will only need to provide a valid photo ID.
Pricing includes cotton/poly blend race long-sleeved shirt, custom race bib, custom finisher medal, food, and free race photos.

If you are unable to race and purchased race insurance during registration you will need to contact the provider directly to determine if you are eligible for a refund. If you are unable to race and did not buy insurance you can cancel your registration and receive a coupon to use towards another Racine MultiSports race within 12 months of your race date. The coupon value is determined below. The cancellation offer will expire when we are 10 days out from the race or closer. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to initiate this process.
- Races not sold out, you will receive a 75% coupon credit until 10 days prior to the event.
- Races sold out or within 10 days of the event, there is no coupon offer for cancellations.
- The coupon value will be deducted from the fee you are paying for a future race. You will owe any balance due over the coupon value. (example: if the race is $75.00 and your coupon value is $50.00 then you will need to cover the $25.00 difference).

Individuals– will complete the entire race course themselves and must choose from the categories below.
- Age Group- this is the general category individuals will race in unless they select one of the other categories below. Age Group participants will compete for overall, masters and age group awards.
- Clydesdale- this is an optional category for men 220 pounds or higher. If you select this category you will only be eligible for Clydesdale awards.
- Athena- this is an optional category for women 165 pounds or higher. If you select this category you will only be eligible for Athena awards.
Relay Teams – teams are either 2 or 3 people who will each complete separate leg(s) of the race. One member will do the first run and then hand off the timing ankle chip to their biker and then the biker will hand off to the final runner. Both hand offs must be done inside the bike transition area. The ankle chip must be worn on the ankle and not carried. The ankle chip must be attached to the ankle before leaving the bike transition area. Relay teams compete for Relay awards only.

Top Masters Overall Male and Female (40+)
Top 3 in each Age Group Male and Female: 16 and under, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80+
Top Relay Team: 2 Person Team division and 3 Person Team division
Top Athena (women 165 lbs+) / Clydesdale (men 220 lbs+): (39 and under) and (40 and over). If you choose these divisions you will not be eligible for your 5 year age group. Please be aware you will be discretely weighed at the event.
Your race age is based on your age on December 31, 2020, per USAT rules.
Awards will be handed out at the awards ceremony following the race. No award will be mailed automatically. For a fee of $15, we will mail your award upon your request.
Event Rules: All athletes must have an approved helmet with the chin strap fastened before exiting bike transition. Your local bike shop can provide you with assistance to ensure your helmet meets approval. Drafting is prohibited on the bike course. You must keep 4 bike lengths from the cyclist in front of you. Bikers and runners must obey all traffic rules/laws and race official instructions. Roads will not be closed to vehicular traffic. You must use caution when on the bike course and yield to vehicles on the road. Volunteers will be placed in key areas to help direct race traffic but will not be stopping vehicles. No outside assistance is allowed and no one other than the athletes and race staff are permitted in the transition area.
