Format
Format
We are very excited about this new multisport format. At Racine MultiSports we call it SUPER Fest! The course is super short, super fast and super fun! This non-draft event will be separated into 5 waves each day to reduce the crowding on the course. The entire course can be observed from a central location which will make it exciting to watch. Let’s take a look at the details.
Men will race on Saturday and women on Sunday, with a limit of 125 participants each day.
Waves: same format each day. Age groups will be kept together within the same wave. Each wave will start once the previous wave is close to finishing. The format below is an estimate. Wave assignments will be determined closer to race day.
1- Approximately 25 participants at 7:30am
2- Approximately 25 participants at 8:30am
3- Approximately 25 participants at 9:30am
4- Approximately 25 participants at 10:30am
5- Approximately 25 participants at 11:30am
Transition Area: Each participant will have their own pre-assigned 10 foot bike rack, that’s right…no neighbor on your rack. You will only have 15 minutes to setup transition because of the rotating nature of the wave format. Equipment must be kept to a minimum for quick setup and removal. A Pre-Staging rack will be your first stop. You will be given 30 minutes in Pre-Staging to make last minute adjustments to your equipment and gear. Once that time is up you will be allowed to move into Transition and will have 15 minutes to setup and clear the area. See schedule below for your schedule times.
Wetsuits: will not be permitted due to the short swim, the fast transition nature of this format, and the water will likely be above 78 degrees on race day.
Start: The Triathlon swim start and Duathlon run start will be a time trial format with participants starting 15 seconds apart. Swim start will begin on land at the water’s edge. Duathlon start will be just outside the “IN” transition arch.
Timing: This event will be professionally chip timed by Racine Timing! You will have a timing chip on your ankle AND a timing tag on your bib. YOU MUST WEAR YOUR BIB ON THE BIKE AND RUN. We will provide a web link to results that you can share with your family and friends so they can follow your race on their web devices. There will be no race kiosk or scoreboard to prevent gathering. Results must be viewed on your phone.
Aide Stations: will not be used due to the short format. Participants must supply their own hydration and food both on the course and after their event.
Athlete Responsibility: USAT rules state that it is the athletes responsibility to know the course. You can visit the race course at any time to practice prior to race weekend. A great way to see the course is to join us for a practice swim and bike and run laps around the course.
Event Rules: All athletes must have an approved helmet with the chin strap fastened before entering the bike course. Your local bike shop can provide you with assistance to ensure your helmet meets approval. USAT no drafting rule in effect. Drafting is prohibited on the bike course. You must keep 4 bike lengths from the cyclist in front of you. Swimmers, bikers and runners must obey all race official instructions. Bikes must ride to the right side of course and only pass on the left. No outside assistance is allowed and no one other than the athletes are permitted in the transition area.
