Welcome to the official site of the 3rd Annual Antietam Brewery 5K Run, Beer Mile, and NEW this year, Taco Mile,  presented by Racine MultiSports, and in partnership with the Antietam Brewery.

This “Live In-Person” event will be held at the Antietam Brewery in Hagerstown, MD…..just minutes from PA, 25 minutes from Martinsburg, WV and Frederick, MD and 90 minutes from Baltimore and DC. The event will include a 5K road race (runners, walkers, families invited), a 21 and older Beer Mile, and a Taco Mile that’s fun for all ages! Races will start and end at Antietam Brewery with an after-party that will start at 11:00am and extend through the afternoon. Participants have the option to sign up for more than one event since the three events do not overlap.

5K DESCRIPTION: The 5K will navigate on the paved roads near and around the Brewery (lightly rolling).

5K RACE LIMIT: 400  participants

5K COURSE: Please note, the course was changed slightly from our first two years. We no longer have access to the neighboring property so we have added the distance lost to the u-turn at the top of Western Maryland Parkway. That u-turn will be moved up Western Maryland parkway towards the traffic circle. As before, the 5K Run will be a”lolly pop style” course design, starting and ending at Antietam Brewery. The course has slightly rolling hills and is rated as an easy to moderate course. There will be a water stop around the 1.3 and 2.5 mile mark and water at the finish line.

BEER MILE START: We will use a wave format

BEER MILE TIMING: This event will be professionally chip timed using disposable bib tags on the back of the race bibs! Bibs must be worn on the front of your shirt and be visible at all times. We will be providing race day results at our results kiosk immediately after you finish your race. We will also provide a web link to results that you can share with your family and friends so they can follow your race on their web devices.

BEER MILE DETAILS: The race begins with the sound of the starting horn and participants will drink their first beer prior to leaving the beer drinking zone. Once the beer is consumed they will run a lap counter-clockwise around the building and return to the beer drinking zone. They will repeat until 4 beers and 4 laps are complete and on the final lap they will finish through the finish arch. The course is flat, paved and fast! Anyone who vomits at any point will have a 5-minute penalty added on to their time.

BEER MILE BEER: The official beer that will be consumed during the Beer Mile: General’s Golden Ale (will meet the 5% alcohol by volume minimum requirement for the Beer Mile). General’s Golden Ale is the original beer of the beer mile and highly requested by past beer milers. It is a refreshing golden classic light ale brewed with wheat & a blend of American & New Zealand hops. The beer will be served in a can and served chilled! We will control the temperature to be colder than room temp but not too cold to chug.

BEER MILE WAVES: Our capacity will be 120 participants total, 3 waves of 40 participants per wave. We created a question for registration that allows you to register for the wave of your choice. For slower participants, we ask that you choose wave 1 or 2 so if you do not finish within the 20 minutes allowed for each wave you can remain on course while the new wave starts. There is no time limit for this event but we must have all participants off course by 12:30pm. Please see the schedule for details.

BEER MILE HISTORY: The “Beer Mile” event has been gaining in popularity over the past few years. However, only a brave few have given it a try. Some top runners have set some incredible records (Men’s Record is 4:33.6 set by Corey Bellemore in 2017 from Canada, Women’s Record is 6:08.0 set by Erin O’Mara from USA) and you can find events all over the country. Most beer mile events are held on a track but some have taken to the streets. The Antietam Brewery Beer Mile will be on black top navigating around the building where the brewery is located. Spectators will enjoy watching the 30 individuals make an attempt to successfully complete the 4 laps and 4 beers. We have provided some links below to help you get educated on this type of event.
